Abstract:

Obesity-related glomerulopathy (ORG) is a form of chronic kidney injury caused by obesity that can progress to chronic renal failure or end-stage renal failure if left untreated. Due to its asymptomatic nature, ORG is often overlooked in clinical practice. Furthermore, there is currently a lack of standardized diagnostic criteria for ORG, and experts from both domestic and foreign countries have different opinions on the diagnostic criteria for its clinical manifestations. This article provides a comprehensive review of the clinical manifestations of ORG, aiming to assist in developing diagnostic guidelines for ORG in clinical practice. Additionally, the efficacy of bariatric surgery in treating ORG is briefly discussed.
