Abstract:

At present, most patients with obesity complicated with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) are treated with single laparoscopic bariatric surgery. However, in the follow-up process, some patients are often found to have poor outcomes, and most of these patients are complicated with pharyngeal stenosis and malformation.Currently, otolaryngologists are promoting the use of cryogenic plasma uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP) as an important procedure for OSAHS. Therefore, we consider the possibility of using a combination of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) and UPPP in such patients. We recently performed such a combined procedure on one such patient. By investigating the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of this procedure, this study aims to provide a basis for the expansion of this procedure for the benefit of patients with obesity combined with OSAHS.
