Abstract:

Objective

To explore the clinical analysis of the correlation between thyroid cancer and type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Methods

The 178 patients who underwent surgery in Inner Mongolia Bayannaoer Linhe People's Hospital from May 2016 to May 2018, and then diagnosed with thyroid carcinoma were retrospectively studied. Among them, 56 cases had diabetes mellitus, and 122 cases had no diabetes. Another 260 cases without thyroid carcinoma were randomly selected as control group. The two groups were compared in age, gender, body mass index, blood pressure, blood sugar, blood fat, TSH data level. Logistic multivariate regression analysis was used to evaluate the correlation between thyroid cancer and diabetes.

Results

There was no significant difference in age and tumor size between the diabetic group and the non-diabetic group (P>0.05). Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that there was a positive correlation between thyroid cancer and diabetes related factors.

Conclusions

Metabolic indicators of glycolipids and serum TSH can predict the risk factors for thyroid cancer. Patients with diabetes should receive regular thyroid ultrasonography for early detection and early treatment to reduce the occurrence of thyroid cancer.
