A cross-sectional survey was conducted in 2002 and 2013 among this population. 975 subjects were investigated about the prevalence of metabolic abnormalities, including obesity and metabolic syndrome(MS) in 2013, campared with 639 subjects in 2002.

Results

The prevalence of obesity in this group was 14.7% (the standardized rate, 12.2%) in 2002, compared with 15.3% (the standardized rate, 13.1%) in 2013. The prevalence of MS was 32.2% (the standardized rate, 30.6%) in 2002, compared with 32.1% (the standardized rate, 31.1%) in 2013. The prevalence of MS in women was 34.1%, much higher than male (27.5%) in 2013. The prevalence of MS in women increased with age (P<0.05).
